In her contribution to the workshop, Prof Laleh Khalili will be drawing on her experiences of research with refugees, former, guerrillas, military personnel and former detainees (for her books Heroes and Martyrs of Palestine and Time in the Shadows) as well as the research she has been conducting on maritime infrastructures and shipping to speak about the political and ethical complexities embedded in researching the powerful and powerless.
